Freedom from Trauma

Breaking the chains.

From 0-18, a child may experience an event considered traumatic that shapes their personality, how they interact with others, how they love, how they trust, how they simply are. Such may include – an accident, bullying, separation from a parent/abandonment, death, abuse, neglect, or simply just chaos and dysfunction in their household.

At 20, 30, or even 40 years old and beyond, you may still experience situations in your life that trigger your trauma.

It starts with recognizing what you’re trying to avoid, recognizing what you’re trying to erase or move forward from, and what your triggers are? Have you healed from it? Have you expressed forgiveness (this could mean forgiving yourself) because of it?

How can we become free from our trauma?

I remember saying, “I have issues with abandonment,” until recently a friend said THAT was an affirmation and I was inviting abandonment into my life by continuing to claim abandonment as part of my story.

I’m learning that our words hold so much power. We have to change the narrative.

“I no longer associate with the fear of abandonment. I am safe.”

“I no longer associate with the fear of neglect. I am safe.”

“I no longer associate with the fear of abuse. I am safe.”

“I am safe. I am safe. I am safe.”

Hold on to people who make you feel safe.

Confide in people who make you feel safe.

Change your story because it’ll change your life.

Sending you love, always.
